About Nen Funerals, Inc.

A Family Tradition of Steady, Personal Care

Rooted in Norfolk, Nebraska, our work is built on listening closely, explaining clearly, and standing beside every family for as long as they need us.

Our Story

Why We Do This Work

Nen Funerals, Inc. was built on a simple belief: that families facing loss deserve someone who will slow down with them, not rush them toward decisions. Based at 1217 W Norfolk Ave in Norfolk, Nebraska, our office has become a familiar and trusted stop for households throughout the region — not because we advertise loudly, but because families who have worked with us tend to tell their neighbors, their relatives, and their friends about the experience.

That word-of-mouth reputation is something we take seriously. It means every arrangement, whether modest or elaborate, receives the same unhurried attention. It means phone calls are returned promptly, questions are answered honestly, and no family is made to feel like a number on a schedule. We see our role less as a service provider and more as a steady presence during one of the hardest chapters a family will ever face.

Mission & Philosophy

Care That Adapts to Every Family

We do not believe in a single template for saying goodbye. Our mission is to give every family the space, information, and support needed to shape a farewell that feels true to the life being remembered.

Listen First

Before any arrangement is discussed, we sit down and simply listen — to the stories, the wishes, and the concerns a family brings with them.

Explain Clearly

Funeral planning involves many moving parts. We explain each option in plain terms so decisions are made with confidence, not confusion.

Stay Present

Our involvement does not end when a service concludes. We remain reachable for follow-up questions, paperwork, and ongoing support.

Leadership

Delayne G Deitloff, President

Nen Funerals, Inc. is led by Delayne G Deitloff, who serves as President and oversees the day-to-day work of guiding families through the arrangement process. That leadership is grounded in a straightforward philosophy: every family should leave a conversation with us feeling more informed and less burdened than when they arrived.

Under this guidance, our small team is expected to treat every phone call, every visitation, and every follow-up conversation with the same patience and respect — regardless of the size of the service or the circumstances surrounding it. Families are encouraged to ask questions freely, revisit decisions if their wishes change, and lean on our experience whenever helpful, without ever feeling pressured toward a particular choice.

In the Community

More Than an Address on W Norfolk Ave

Norfolk and the surrounding northeast Nebraska communities have shaped how we think about this work. In a smaller community, families are not strangers passing through — they are neighbors, coworkers, and familiar faces we may see again at the grocery store or a school event. That closeness keeps us accountable to treating every arrangement with the same integrity we would want for our own families.

We try to remain a quiet, steady presence beyond the day of service itself — available for a phone call months later when a question arises, supportive of local remembrance traditions, and respectful of the many different cultural and religious customs represented across our region. Our goal is simply to be a name that families can trust, generation after generation, whenever they need guidance during a difficult time.

“We are not here to sell a service. We are here to help a family through one of the hardest days of their lives, with as much clarity and calm as we can offer.”
